Findings

Exceptions, ranked and accountable

A finding is a record that a named rule could not reconcile, together with everything needed to judge it. It is never a score, and it is never deleted.

Severity

Severity is a property of the rule, not a calculation. It says how strongly the condition implies a problem, and it orders the review queue.

SeverityMeaning
CriticalThe condition is objectively wrong in the data, or has a direct effect on a return. VAT that does not follow from the net, a duplicated purchase invoice, a missing allocation number above the threshold.
AnomalyThe condition is unusual and warrants an explanation. A non-standard VAT rate, a material journal at period end, a counterparty record that conflicts with another.
ReviewThe condition is legitimate in many ledgers but should be seen. An invoice sequence gap, a dormant account reactivated, a negative expense posting.

Evidence strength

The percentage shown against a finding is the proportion of compared attributes that matched. It is arithmetic over the attribute list beneath it, not a model output, and the list is always shown alongside it.

Status

StatusMeaning
OpenRaised by the run and not yet acted on.
InvestigatingWork has started. Saving a note moves an open finding here.
ReviewedExamined and accepted as understood.
ResolvedCorrected in the books, or otherwise closed out.
SuppressedDeliberately set aside, with a recorded reason.

Status, notes and suppressions are stored separately from findings and keyed by the finding's content-addressed id. Re-importing the same data or re-running the rules therefore carries your review work forward instead of discarding it.

Suppression

Suppressing a finding requires a reason: intentional duplicate, known recurring transaction, false positive, or other, and a note. The finding stays in the run, in the history and in every evidence export, carrying the reason and the date it was suppressed. Nothing is hidden from the record.

  • A suppressed finding is filtered out of the working view, not removed from the data.
  • Exports always include suppressed findings and the stated reason.
  • Suppression can be reversed by reopening the finding.
