Data handling

Where your client data lives

Accountants hold other people's financial records. This page states plainly what VLDTION does with them, without claims it cannot support.

What the application does

  • Reads the file you choose, in the application process, on your machine.
  • Stores normalised records, findings and your review notes in a local database, a SQLite file in the application's data folder on the desktop, or the browser's local storage in the browser build.
  • Runs the rule set in the same process. No part of the analysis is performed elsewhere.
  • Writes exports only where you choose to save them.

What it does not do

  • It does not upload ledger data. The application makes no network requests during import, validation or export.
  • It does not require an account, a licence server or a workspace.
  • It does not call a model, a hosted service or any external API.
  • It does not write to your accounting system. The export is read-only input.
  • It collects no telemetry and no usage analytics.

The marketing website

This website exists to explain the product and distribute it. It does not accept accounting data, and there is no facility to upload a ledger to it. The product previews on the site are generated from a synthetic dataset built in the browser.

Deleting data

A dataset can be removed from the Import screen, which deletes its records, its runs and the findings attached to them. Settings offers a full erase of the workspace. On the desktop, deleting the database file removes everything.

Scope of these statements

These statements describe how this build behaves. They are not a certification, an audit opinion, or a legal guarantee, and no security accreditation is claimed. A practice evaluating VLDTION for client data should test it against its own requirements.
